Sensors
A sensor is a device that measure, detects and responds to some type
of input from the physical environment.
The input could be heat, light, motion, pressure, moisture or any
other environmental phenomena. And the output is in form of signals
which either display or transmitted electronically over a network.
There are different types of sensors:

Edge IT:
Once IoT data has been digitized and
aggregated, it’s ready to cross into
the realm of IT.
However, the data may require
further processing before it enters
the data center. This is where the
edge IT system which perform more
analysis comes into play.
Edge IT processing systems may be
located in remote offices or other
edge locations, but generally these
seat in the facility or location where
the sensor reside closer to the
sensor, such as in wiring closet.

Pros:-
Communication
IoT encourages the communication between devices, also famously known as Machine-to-Machine
(M2M) communication.
Automation and control
Due to physical objects getting connected and controlled digitally and centrally with wireless
infrastructure, there is a large amount of automation and control in the workings.
Monitor
The second most obvious advantage of IoT is monitoring, it provide more information that could not have
previously been collected easily.
Saves time and efficient
The machine-to-machine interaction provides better efficiency, hence; accurate results can be
obtained fast. This results in saving valuable time. Instead of repeating the same tasks every day, it
enables people to do other creative jobs.
Saves money
Optimum utilization of energy and resources can be achieved by adopting this technology and
keeping the devices under surveillance.
Better quality of life
All the applications of this technology culminate in increased comfort, convenience, and
better management, thereby improving the quality of life.
