GUIDELINES FOR PROJECT IN QUALITY ISSUES IN ENGINEERING
(15 marks; To be done in a group size of 5-6)
1. PROJECT ON ORGANIZATION VISIT
Students are required to visit any business organiza�on preferably (but not restricted to) in the
Na�onal Capital Region to observe the following:
•Brief about the organiza�on; its products; its suppliers; its opera�ons; its processes
•Quality control system and techniques followed by the company
•Quality Standards met by the company
•Applica�on of quality tools or lean manufacturing system
•Sigma capability of products or processes; DMAIC methodology, if followed
•Quality Awards achieved if any, along with the reasons for achieving the award
•Applica�on and relevance of the Quality Concepts studied in the course so far
2. The study should be conducted with the help of an interview or some kind of ques�onnaire . Students
should interact with both high-level and low level employees, so as to get the correct picture of the
quality processes.
3. The students must prepare a detailed report on the project undertaken and support it with
documents, charts, graphs, pictures etc. The text should be in 1.5 line-spacing in Calibri, 12 font size,
and jus�fied. The report should not be less than 15 pages.
4. Last date for submi�ng the report is Monday, April 29, 2019.
5. The group viva on the project shall be held during lecture hours between April 29 and May 10, 2019.
Students must reserve their slot at the �me of submission of the project.
