  1. A resistor of 3.3k carries a current of 60mA. Find :

(i) The power it dissipates. Use two different methods to calculate power. (ii) The energy expended in 60 minutes. [ 5 marks ]

  1. For the circuit shown below, use Mesh analysis to find the current through resistor R3. [ 20 marks ]

V1 = 12V. V2=15V.

R1 =1.5k. R2 = 2k. R3 = 3.3k. R4 = 4.7k. R5 = 5k.

  1. A resistor and inductor are connected in series with a 150V, 60Hz supply. If the voltage across the resistor is 100V and the current is 12A , calculate i. the inductor value ii. the total impedance in complex form [ 15 marks ]
  2. Two impedances, 15+j45 and 15-j5, are connected in series across an ac supply of magnitude 10V. Calculate i. the equivalent impedance ii. the supply current iii. the total active power iv. the total reactive power v. the pf. [ 15 marks ]
