Pituitary gland Pituitary gland or Hypophysis is an endocrine that lies in a pocket known as Sellaturcica of the sphenoid bone and is connected to hypothalamus through a structure called Infendibulum. Since the hormones produced by pituitary control so many functions of bodily processes it is known as “Master gland”.When looking at the structure of the pituitary hormone there are two lobes for pituitary: Anterior Pituitary and posterior pituitary, Anterior pituitary is known as Adenohypophysis which is % of the pituitary and Posterior pituitary is known as Neurohypophysis. And both the lobes secrete certain hormones. Anterior pituitary Anterior pituitary is a granular lobe of pituitary. The hormones of anterior pituitary also known as Tropic hormones of Endocrinokinetic hormones, Except prolactin. These hormones regulate several psychological processes such as Growth, Stress, reproduction, lactation. The regulation process is done by the secretion of peptide hormones which acts on the target organs including adrenal gland, thyroid gland, gonads, bone and liver. The pituitary gland is regulated by Hypothalamus. There are several hormones secreted by adenohypophysis. The major hormones are e Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and Luteinising hormone (LH) e Prolactin (PLN) e = Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) e Adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) e Growth hormone
