Fabric Recliners
This product contains moving parts. It is important that you pay particular attention to the ‘Safety’ section on this booklet.
We are always looking at new developments and ways to offer a product range reflective of our customer requirements. Should you have any comments regarding your purchase please contact our Customer Service Team.
As a safety feature to prevent the seat quilt and back cushion getting trapped in the reclining mechanism all our recliner cushions are sewn in to place to prevent movement. This also ensures that the recliner offers support in the areas intended.
We advise that regular ‘dressing’ of the back & quilt as described below will help maintain the original look and form of your recliner.
When extended the recliner footrest elongates by up to 2 inches so there is extra fabric around the knee roll area when closed. We recommend that the seat quilt is dressed regularly to reduce the knee roll area over time developing an overhang.
After use always ‘plump’ up the seat back to re-distribute the fibres back in to place. On models with plainer design backs this is particularly important as the fillings are more likely to settle and need pushing back in to place.
The movement of seat quilts on 2 and 3 seat settees will take place after use. To re-align the quilts simply push the quilt towards the rear of the recliner. If the quilt is not dressed regularly it is inevitable that if one side of the settee is used more, the sides will not line up until dressed.
All seat quilts are lined up in our factory prior to despatch, it is inevitable that the quilts will move once sat upon.
In order to prevent damage to your recliner we advise that you follow these simple guidelines.
When positioning your recliner ensure that there is not an obstruction or that the chair/settee is not positioned too close to the wall. Anything that restricts movement of the chair can cause damage to the frame, on powered models this can also cause a strain on the motor.

operation of the chair
How to operate a Manual Recliner
There are three main positions your manual recliner can be used in:
The standard sitting position.
Footrest extended, back upright - ideal for watching TV, reading newspapers etc.
Your chair will be delivered in the closed position. To move to the relax position, sit as far back in the seat as possible so that your body weight is behind the mid-point of the chair. Release the latch or handle on the chair to raise the footrest. It is important to sit as far back as possible in the chair to allow the recliner to operate as efficiently as possible. Should you not sit far enough back in the chair, the footrest will not open to its full extent - this will make it very difficult to recline the back of the chair.
Footrest extended, back reclined - for complete relaxation. To recline the chair, push gently on the arms and move your back into the chair.
To close the chair, simply lean forward and the back will move to the upright “relax” position. Then apply downward pressure on the footrest and with the back of your legs push the footrest back to the closed or rest position. The footrest will lock into the closed position.
In addition to the above three positions the unique ‘geometrically balanced’ design of the Delta action allows you to use your body weight to stop the chair in any recline position. To do this, release the handle or latch mechanism as described above and then gently inch backwards, stopping the chair wherever you feel most comfortable. Your body weight should help stop the chair in your desired position.

chair incorporates a sprung-loaded footrest. Should the footrest hit an obstruction on closing, it will pivot as shown to reduce pressure. The motor will continue to function until the action cycle is finished when it will automatically stop.
As all the actions contain moving parts, never attempt to repair or adjust the action mechanism yourself. Contact your local retailer for any service issues. Always ensure all electrical supply wires are free from obstruction and not twisted or trapped in any way. If any wires are damaged, always have them replaced by a qualified electrician. Do not sit on the arms of the product or on the footrest when it is in the ‘open’ position.
Never lean to an excessive degree over the side or front of the chair as this could cause the chair to tilt. Never attempt to reach for anything around the chair as excessive leaning could cause the chair to tilt. In particular a reclined chair can tip forward if you reach too far forward when in the sitting position the chair in the lift position will, due to its raised centre of gravity, be more susceptible to tipping than a fully closed chair. Always get out of the chair to retrieve any articles around the chair.
To prevent accidental or unauthorised use, each electrically powered, handset operated, chair incorporates a quick release feature. This is usually found on the lead inside the pocket at the side of the chair. Always detach the handset and store in a safe position out of the reach of children to prevent unauthorised or unsupervised use of the chair.
To prevent accidental damage or trapping when the footrest closes, each electrically powered
As all action products contain moving parts, handle all items with care. Only move the product when it is in the ‘rest’ or ‘closed’ position. Never attempt to move the chair when it is in any of the open positions. Always use the arms to move the chair – do not use the back or wings. When moving an electrically operated chair, always unplug the mains lead. This will help avoid accidental trapping of the electrical leads.
After use always return the product to the ‘rest’ or ‘closed’ position. Never position your Celebrity product close to a fire or source of heat. Do not leave a lit cigarette resting on the arm or any part of the product. Do not place the chair too close to the wall as this can seriously damage the motor should the chair be restricted in its operation.
Never leave the chair in the ‘standing’ position, always return to the ‘rest’ position after exiting the chair.
Please note that this product should never be used other than as a reclining chair – it is not a bed and should not be used as a substitute for a bed.
Only use the transformer unit supplied by Celebrity with the chair. Do not use any other make of transformer as this can result in irreparable damage to the motor. Do not tamper with the sealed transformer.
Do not lean forward when the footrest is in the ‘open’ position, as this could cause the chair to tip forward.
Always ensure that no objects are left under the chair. As with any piece of action furniture there is always the possibility that any loose item can interfere with the moving parts of the chair.
