It is intended to specify the objectives of the business venture or project and identify the internal and external factors that are favorable and unfavorable to achieving those objectives. Users of a SWOT analysis often ask and answer questions to generate meaningful information for each category to make the tool useful and identify their competitive advantage. Oil India Limited (OIL) is also considered to be the second highest hydrocarbon E&P (Exploration & Production) company and has more than 11,000 employees with a business turnover of 35 Billion Dollars.
ONGC logged 4000-corer loss on natural gas output as the government mandated the price for fuel was less than the average cost of production. The company claims that there is no more profitable business in natural gas because the cost of the production is very much higher than the gas prices.
Development is said to be below the leading players in the industry. Even though ONGC is spending a good amount on the R&D aspect, however, the company has not been able to compete with the leading players in the industry when it comes to innovation. The company has come across

Critical Success Factor Weight ONGC Indian Oil Corporation Essar Oil Rating Score Rating Score Rating Score Advertising 0.20 3 0.60 4 0.80 2 0. Quality of Services 0.10^3 0.30^4 0.40^2 0. Price Competitiveness
Management 0.10^3 0.30^4 0.40^3 0. Financial Position 0.15^3 0.45^4 0.60^1 0. Global Expansion 0.20 4 0.80 4 0.80 4 0. Customer Loyalty 0.10 3 0.30 3 0.30 2 0. Market Share 0.05 3 0.15 4 0.20 1 0. Total 1.00 3.20 3.60 2. Rating: 4 – major strength/industry leader 3 – minor strength 2 – minor weakness 1 – major weakness/industry laggard Here I took the three companies of oil and natural gas companies in India first is ONGC, second one is Indian Oil Corporation and third one is Essar oil according to CPM matrix it will be shows that which is giant company in all the factor. Weight of the CPM matrix given by 1 divided by number of critical success factor that is 0.125 (average weight) it is given randomly according to the average weight. Rating given to the company is according to its factors itself. First success factor CPM Matrix is Advertising, so Indian Oil Corporation is batter than ONGC and Eassar Oil there for I gave to 4 rating to the Indian Oil Corporation and Customer Loyalty of ONGC and Indian Oil Corporation is same there for I gave 3 rating to both and Essar have not that much of Customer Loyalty rather compare to ONGC and Indian Oil Corporation. As we see the total of the company Indian Oil Corporation is top of the list than ONGC and than Essar oil it’s shows that Indian Oil Corporation is good company in all the factor rather than OGC and Essar Oil.
