Child Protection Legislation 14 -years old Jorge has been skipping schoo! and also, been engaging in several acts of anti- social behaviour which include stealing, excessive drinking, making noise in the neighbourhoods, and smashing bottles. Because of this information, the children's hearings (Scotland)Act 2011 is the relevant legislation that can be used for Jorge. This law focuses on children and young people who are most at risk (SCRA). One of its basic objectives is to make effective decisions around the need to refer a child or young person to a child's hearing and to enable young people and their families to attend hearings(Gov. UK). The legal framework for the children's hearings (Scotland) Act 2011 (the 2011 Act). ‘Under this Act, for children hearing to go ahead, a ground of referral must be established or accepted before a hearing can take place or move forward, The first ground in. Norrie(2005), There is no bare minimum age intended for a young person to be put forward to the young person trial procedure although, the child has to be born, a child can be referred while waiting till they are 16 or 18 years of age in certain situations. The criminal liability age is said to be eight years of age, however, since the establishment of the criminal justice licensing (Scotland) Act 2010 (the 2010 Act), the hearing age has been put up to 12 years of age. 15
