Lab 8: Sampling of analog signals Nguyen Huu Tam Ton – Z368Q April 17th, 2023 Part A: Sampling a sinusoidal signal 1. Plot the sampled message out of the Dual Analog Switch module as well as the message.

  • The frequency of the signal is 2.08 4 kHz, and it has a slightly different frequency than 2kHz.
  • The sampling period: 1/2085 = 0.00048 s.
  • The sampling rate: 2.085 kHz.
  • Measure the frequencies of 7 spikes that appeared 2 kHz, 6.1 kHz, 10.1 kHz, 1 4. 2 kHz, 1 8. 3 kHz, 22.3 kHz, 2 7 kHz.

Indeed, there are correlations between fm, fs, and the 7 frequencies in my measurement, and these frequencies are about comparable to the formulae given, with 0.938 kHz being the outlier.

It is a sinusoidal waveform and has a frequency of 2.083 kHz. Part C: Changing the sampling rate. Plot the time domain signals after sampling (before filtering).

  • The sampling period: 1/2000 = 5 us.
  • The sampling rate: 2 kHz.
  • Measure frequencies of the first 7 spikes appeared in the sampled signal (before filtering ) 0.937 kHz, 1.5kHz, 2.063 kHz, 3.85 kHz, 4 kHz, 4.5 kHz, 5 kHz.
