Hook
● There are lots of example of Juxtaposition. Think about The Godfather, John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum, A Tale of Two Cities, and even our daily lives: Old vs. New. ○ In John Wick, John Wick’s foil is the Adjudicator. Who represents the bad, whereas John Wick represents the good. ○ In A Tale of Two Cities, it was “the best of times” and “the worst of times” which oppose each other.
Examples
Jurassic Park : Colossal dinosaurs are juxtaposed against humans and their world to create contrast; this can be seen being used humorously when “Objects in mirror are closer than they appear” is written on a car’s side mirror with a t-rex charging towards the characters’ vehicle.
Jaws : In Spielberg's iconic film, Juxtaposition is used to heighten anticipation and build anxiety for viewers. The movie cuts from scenes of peaceful beachgoers to tense background music and underwater shots, alluding to the presence of a shark.
