The Shahada and its conditions The Shahada is a testimony of Faith What are the conditions of the shahada?

Life of Wahab ibnu Munabbih منبه بن وهب

• A Yeminite Muslim
• A Tabi’in
• Wahab ibnu Munabbih was asked regarding

the statement of “Lailaha illa llah” and

specifically and they asked “Isn’t the

statement of the Shahada the key to

paradise”. He answered:

“Yes but every key has teeth”

condition Knowledge

• Must have basic and general knowledge of what is meant by the Shahada.
• Must understand what the Shahada is affirming and what the Shahada is denying. Allah says in the Quran
• In Sura Muhammad: à

Knowledge is all one It comes from Allah (SWT)

• The Key word is Ayah
• The Quran are Ayaat (plural) – which means verses, revelation, signs, miracles, proof
• This word is used when Allah tells us about the Ayaat of the Quran – o The Word of Allah
• This word is also used when Allah tells about the Ayaat of his creation – o The World of Allah
