1.1 About the Company

Government Tool Room and Training Centre (GTTC) an internationally acclaimed Device Room and Preparing Centre. This is a joint endeavour of the Public authority of Karnataka and DANIDA, Legislature of Denmark, laid out in the year 1972. The Public authority of Karnataka has laid out 28 GTTC Focuses all over Karnataka and an expertise improvement focus. The principal objective is to give gifted labour and specialized administrations to the current and arising Businesses everywhere. GTTC has in excess of 50,000 applicants in different Certificate and Transient Expertise Advancement Preparing Project. Multiplicating the innovation for improvement of the businesses with a supply of talented labour is the way to address the issues of the worldwide necessity. With this Administration of Karnataka urges GTTC to begin 10 more sub-focuses to prepare in the space of hardware and bite the dust making in different pieces of Karnataka. GTTC is an independent society, and a perceived Logical and Exploration Association by the Public authority of India. Govt. Apparatus Room and Preparing Centre (GTTC), is serving industry by the method of accuracy tooling and giving in thoroughly prepared experts the area of hardware and kick the bucket making. Today, the GTTC has obtained authority in Shape and Kick the bucket making innovation and have bloomed into an embodiment of accuracy and quality in the turn of events and production of complex forms, bites the dust and apparatuses. Completely mindful of the quick progression in innovation the world, the GTTC is occasionally adding new innovations to the current arrangement of cutting edge gear like computer aided design/CAM, CNC machines for tooling, Accuracy Parts, Laser for Enterprises, Fast prototyping, vacuum projecting, and so on. Today GTTC is focusing on the Coordinated Turn of events if the connected portions of ventures via giving global quality apparatuses, prepared staff and consultancy in tooling and related regions. In the future, the spotlight would be more on turnkey projects in Tooling, Aviation parts and their gatherings, and furthermore to help the advancement of small and medium scale undertakings.

CHAPTER 2

On the day at morning 9:00 am we were addressed by Prof. Deepak followed by Mr. Srinivas, we were given the list of Do’s and Don’ts to be followed during the internship. Prof. Deepak gave us a brief introduction of himself, asked us to give our intro. Later about the list of topics that would be covered in the upcoming days for one week. We were given access to the design tech LMS system where we could access the materials and presentations which would help us in understanding PLC concepts with deep knowledge. We were first introduced to the world of automation and its needs as follows,

2.1 Overview on automation

Automation is the assignment of human control capability to specialized hardware.  The demonstration of executing the control of gear with cutting-edge innovation; as a rule, including electronic equipment gadgets.  Robotization replaces human laborers with machines. Types of automation Programmable automation By utilizing the programmable robotization the creation computerization is able to deal with various item designs. In the programmable computerization the activity grouping is constrained by the program and this program will be a bunch of guidelines and the framework will actually want to peruse these directions and are fit to do the fundamental tasks as per these directions. This sort of robotization makes the framework to deal with the progressions and varieties in item arrangement and they are extremely valuable for group creation. Flexible automation By this kind of mechanization the framework can change starting with one work then onto the next rapidly and it will not require any investment. By utilizing the adaptable mechanization various types of items can be produced. The framework reconstructing and modifying the actual arrangement is exceptionally speedy in this and on account of this the framework is proficient to create various items with less time. This sort of mechanization is truly adaptable to manage Varity of delicate item, the creation rates will be least, and Assembling of various blends of items should be possible. Fixed automation In this sort of activity the succession of handling the activity is finished by the hardware arrangement. The succession activity won't be troublesome and it very well may be truly basic. Fundamentally a decent mechanization can be considered as the mix or mix of various tasks into one gear and this would make the framework extremely complicated. The underlying expense for this computerization will be exceptionally high and the creation rates will be extremely high in this. Control System A control framework is a gadget, or set of gadgets, that makes due, orders, coordinates manages the way of behaving of different gadgets or frameworks. Department of Mechatronics Engineering, AIT, Bangalore Page | 4

Types of Control Systems Open loop control system : An open-circle regulator, likewise called a non-criticism regulator, is a control framework where the control activity is free of the cycle yield, which is the interaction variable that is being Fig. 2.1 Open loop control Close loop control system : A shut circle control framework is a mechanical or electronic gadget that consequently manages a framework to keep an ideal state or set point without human connection. It utilizes a criticism framework or sensor. Fig. 2.2 Closed loop control Components of Automation

 Sensor (RTD, TC, Proximity switches, Flow sensors etc.)

 Transmitter (TT, PT, FT, pH Transmitter etc.)

 Controller (Microprocessor, Micro controller, PLC,PID etc.)

 Actuators (Contactor, Relay, solenoid etc.)

 Final Control Element (Motors, Heaters, Control Valves etc.)

 Human Machine Interface (HMI )

 Supervisory Control and Data Actuation(SCADA)

 Distributed Control System

Power supply  Power supply is given to the processor unit, info and result module unit. Power supply might be basic or independently mounted unit. The greater part of the PLC works on 0 volts DC and 24 volts.  Memory section  The memory segment is the region of the computer processor where information and data is put away and recovered. Information Memory is utilized to store mathematical information expected in number related computation, scanner tag information and so forth. Client memory contains client's application program.  Programming device  Programming gadgets are devoted gadgets utilized for stacking the client program into the program memory or alter it and to screen the execution of the program of the PLC. It is likewise used to investigate the PLC stepping stool rationale program. Hand held terminal (HHT) or devoted terminal or PC are customizing gadgets regularly utilized in the vast majority of the PLCs. PLC Programming Languages

 Ladder Logic(LAD) : Ladder Diagram is a graphical programming language that you use to

develop software for programmable logic controllers (PLCs)

 Functional Block Diagram (FBD) : It is a graphical language for programmable logic controller

design, that can describe the function between input variables and output variables.

 Statement List (STL) : It is a text-based programming language with a structure similar to

assembly language or machine code. STL is the native language of S7-300 and S7-400 processors.

 Sequential Function Chart(SFC) :It is a graphical programming language used for Programmable

Logic Controllers (PLCs)

 S7-Graph : It provides different settable compiler options for integrating the general management

section of the sequencer block

 Continuous Function Chart(CFC) : It is a graphic editor that can be used in conjunction with the

STEP 7 software package. Communication Standard RS-232 : RS-232 stands for Recommend Standard number 232 is the latest revision of the standard. It is a Full Duplex, RS232 cable is used for serial communication between two devices. Department of Mechatronics Engineering, AIT, Bangalore Page | 7

RS-422 :RS-422 is similar to RS-232, and can be programmed in the same way,rs-422 use for long run distances Fig. 2.5 RS- TCP/IP : TCP/IP stands for “Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol”.It is basically a network protocol that defines the details of how data is sent and received through network adapters, Bus, switches, routers and other Fig. 2.6 TCP/IP
