A pass in the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereof and fulfilling the following requirements.
Diploma in Agriculture / Horticulture A. HSC / Equivalent – Academic Stream Candidates should have studied and passed Physics, Chemistry, Biology (or) Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology in the qualifying examinations. HSC – Vocational Stream
Diploma in Agricultural Engineering A. HSC / Equivalent – Academic Stream For Agricultural Engineering, study of Mathematics is compulsory in the qualifying examination. Candidates should have studied and passed Mathematics along with Physics and Chemistry. Students from Vocational Stream are not eligible for Diploma in Agricultural Engineering.
B. Number of Attempts to Pass For the purpose of admission to the Diploma courses, the maximum number of attempts to pass qualifying examination is as follows:

(c) Community Certificate obtained from other states will not be considered for communal reservation.
(d) For communities linked with Districts, the candidates should obtain their community certificate in the respective district except the communities mentioned in G.O. (ST) No. 95 BC, MBC & Minorities Welfare Department dt: 28.10.2009. Such of those community certificates obtained on or after 28.10.2009 will be considered. Community certificate obtained from other than the respective district will not be considered.
(e) Candidates who have not produced the Community Certificate in the form of Permanent Community [Card] Certificate or electronic form / digitally signed e- Certificate at the time of original certificates verification at TFC, their application will be treated under “Open Competition (OC)”. The candidate is further informed that in the event of such a decision, the eligibility conditions & rules prescribed for OC will be applicable for such candidates and if such candidates do not satisfy the rules of OC, their applications are liable to be rejected. No correspondence in this connection will be entertained. B. Differently Abled
Five percent of the seats are reserved for differently abled candidates in the Constituent Institutes. The applicant should fulfill all qualifying requirements. However, the
maximum age limit is relaxed to 26 years. Candidates seeking admission against this reservation set apart from Hearing impaired / Orthopaedically Differently Abled / Visually Impaired, should produce the certificate from the Medical Board of the District concerned certifying the nature and extent of disability in percentage. Certificates obtained from an individual Doctor will not be considered. Further, a separate TNAU Medical Team will examine the candidates with reference to their certificates and his/her suitability for admission to TNAU. Candidates have to produce permanent disability card and Medical Certificate.
IV. MODE OF SELECTION
Candidates will be selected on the basis of the marks in their qualifying examination and common ranking procedure with marks as calculated below. The system of education is “Semester Course Credit System”. An enrolled student in order to earn a diploma should complete the course credits prescribed from time to time and should have earned a minimum Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) of 6.50 out of 10.00.
VI. MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION English is the medium of instruction in all the constituent and affiliated institutes, except in the Institute of Agriculture at Vamban, where Tamil is the medium of instruction.
Scholarships such as Adi Dravida Welfare Scholarships, Backward Welfare Scholarships from State Government of Tamil Nadu are available for the benefit of deserving enrolled candidates.
IX. INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES
X. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR ADMISSIONS
The candidates shall be required to upload the following documents while filling the online application. Originals should be produced at the time of certificate verification.
i)Mark sheet showing the marks obtained in the HSC/Equivalent qualifying examination in each subject.
ii) Conduct certificate from the Head of the Educational Institution in which the candidate last studied for more than one year.
iii) Transfer certificate from the Head of the Educational Institution in which the candidate last studied.
iv)The Original Community- cum-Nativity Certificate issued by the revenue authorities as per G.O. (Ms). No. 85 BC, MB & MW Department, Dated 29.7.2008, G.O. (Ms). No. 96 BC, MB & MW Department (BCC), Dated 08.9.2008, G.O. (Ms). No. 97 BC, MB & MW Department (BCC), Dated 11.9.2008, G.O. (Ms). No. 37 BC, MB & MW Department (BCC), Dated 21.05.2009 and G.O. (Ms). No.98 BC, MB & MW Department (BCC), Dated 5.11.2009. An attested photo copy of the same should be enclosed along with application.
v) The candidates who have not studied X, XI and XII standards in Tamil Nadu should produce certificate of permanent residence in Tamil Nadu in the prescribed proforma (APPENDIX II) from competent authority.
vi) Candidates should submit signed copy of application to the effect to abide by the University Rules and Regulations should be submitted at the time of certificate verification.
The selected candidates should submit all the ORIGINAL certificates for verification at the respective institute on the prescribed date. Candidates called for counseling need to pay non-refundable counseling fee of Rs.200/- (Rs.100/- for SC, SCA, ST) when called for counseling through online mode. The semester fee has to be paid in the respective institute at the time of joining.
The candidates should also submit a physical fitness certificate obtained from the Government Medical Officer at the time of admission.
XI. Others
Owning a bicycle in the campus is mandatory, as most of the practical classes are field oriented.
With regard to the interpretation of the provisions of any matter not covered in this information brochure, the decision of the University shall be final and binding on all the parties concerned. Any complaints, grievances etc., related to UG admissions and academic matters must be first referred to the Chairman (Admissions) and Dean (Agriculture), Agricultural College and Research Institute, Coimbatore who will be the appellate authority to redress such complaints /disputes. The Courts having their jurisdiction at Coimbatore alone can adjudicate on all matters and disputes related to admissions and academic matters. Further, any legal question arising out of the admission shall be entertained only when raised within 30 days from the declaration of result. No Disputes will be entertained after the closure of admission. The Private Diploma Institutes affiliated to TNAU are not authorized to admit any candidate against the seats allotted under government quota without specific prior approval of the Government of Tamil Nadu and TNAU. TNAU is not liable and legally binding for any admissions made under the lapsed seats violating the rules and regulations prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu / TNAU for the admission of the candidates under government quota seats.
