GCSE Maths Formula Sheet

Angle Formulae

Rule 1: Angles around a point add up to 360°.

Rule 2: Angles on a straight line add up to 180°.

Rule 3: Angles in a triangle add up to 180°.

Rule 4: Angles in a quadrilateral add up to 360°.

Parallel Lines

Lines are parallel if they will never intersect.

Rule 1: Corresponding angles are equal - these are angles in a letter 'F'.

Rule 2: Alternate angles are equal - these are angles in a letter 'Z'.

Perpendicular Lines

Two lines are perpendicular if they meet at 90°.

Use a compass for the construction lines.

Usually we set the compass, clearly past half of the distance between A and B.

Cube: Volume = length x width x height

Cuboid: Volume = length x width x height

General 3D shape: Volume = area of 2D shape x height

Circles

The blue line is a diameter

The yellow line is a radii

The orange line is a chord

The green line is a tangent

The black line is the circumference

Pythagoras’s Theorem

C = 2 𝜋𝑟

REMEMBER TO SQUARE ROOT AT THE END!

Mode, Mean, Median and Range

Mode: The MOde is the MOst common

Mean: The mean is the average of a set of numbers. To find this we add all the numbers together and divide by the total amount of numbers.

Median: To find the median, we first arrange the numbers in order then find the middle number.

Range: The biggest number – smallest number

Square and Cube Numbers

Square Numbers:

12 = 1, 22 = 4, 32 = 9, 42 = 16, 52 = 25, 62 = 36, 72 = 49, 82 = 64,

92 = 81, 102 = 100, 112 = 121, 122 = 144, 132 = 169, 142 = 196, 152 = 225

Cube Numbers:

13 = 1, 23 = 8, 33 = 27, 43 = 64, 53 = 125

Remember to get a good night’s rest and to eat breakfast! If you come to a question you are struggling with leave it and come back to it later.

Good Luck!!!
