An eyelid infection is any infection condition that effect eyelid.

eyelid infection, medically know as

blepharitis is the inflammation of the eyelid, typically involving the eyelash follicles and oil gland near the base of the eyelashes DEFINITION

1.Bacterial infection 2.Skin condition like rosacea or sedorrheic dermatitis 3.Meibomian gland dysfunction ( oil gland in eyelids )

  1. Allergies 5.Parasitc eyelash mites ( demodex ) 6.Abnormality in oil producting gland 7.Dandruff 8.Dry eyes is extremely common in people CAUSES
  • Red, swollen eyelids.
  • Itchy or burning sensation.
  • Crusty or greasy eyelashes, especially upon waking.
  • Watery or irritated eyes.
    • Sensitivity to light.
  • Blurred vision.
  • Foreign body sensation.
  • Cinical examination by an eye specialist.
  • Evaluation of eyelid appearance and symptoms.
  • Assessment of tear film quality.
  • In some cases, swabs or cultures to identify the causative bacteria.

  • Anti-Inflammatory Medications: Steroid eye drops for severe inflammation. Artificial Tears: Lubricating eye drops to relieve dryness and discomfort

Surgical management

  • Instruct patients on the correct use of prescribed medications.
  • Monitor and report any worsening symptoms or complications.
  • Provide emotional support, as eyelid infections can be chronic and affect daily life. NURSING MANAGEMENT
  • Eyelid deformity refers to abnormal or atypical conditions affecting the eyelids, which can impact their function, appearance, or both. DEFINITION
  • Congenital Factors: Deformities present from birth, like congenital ptosis (drooping eyelids).
  • Acquired Factors: Deformities that develop later in life due to trauma, disease, or aging.
  • Trauma: Injuries to the eyelids can lead to deformities like scarring or malpositioning CAUSESS
  • Drooping or sagging eyelids. Excessive tearing (epiphora) or dryness.
  • Difficulty closing or opening the eyes.
  • Impaired vision due to eyelid malposition.
  • Cosmetic concerns. SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS

Physical Examination: Inspection and palpation of the eyelids.

  • Visual Acuity Testing: Assessing changes in vision. Slit Lamp Examination: To examine the eyelid structures closely. CT or MRI: Imaging to assess internal eyelid structures or orbital involvement. Blood Tests: In cases of systemic diseases affecting the eyelids. DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATION
