DEFINITION 5 Throughout my essay I assessed the changes that have occurred over the past 40 years, which many came around thanks to the technology revolution. From changes from equipment to promotion that was used. For example, Promotion for music festivals revolved around using word of mouth, where as now everyone all over the world has access. With the help of social media and videos as an example I have included a short video of what the promotion for V fest was like in 2009, where the organizers brought together the best bits to try and attract people to attend.
Festivals, such as Glastonbury have diversified so much since the 70s. Both enlarged in terms of space and music, they went from having a few acts to hundreds of acts, also changed to a lot of different types of music and not one specific genre. Music festivals are now seen as an opportunity to get away from routine 9-5 life, to escape parents and have a holiday with your friends. Festivals show no sign of slowing down TERM 7
DEFINITION 7 I've always had an interest in music ever since a young age, from pop to electro to indie and dance. And ever since I was able to attend a music festival, I thought I would give it a go. I chose to go to a festival, over going to a regular concert, because it would be a new experience for me and I know I would leave having not only seen some amazing bands, but also made some new long life friends and memories. As a future career, I would also like to get involved in the music industry, specifically as a festival organizer, So I thought that researching into music festivals, I would gain wider knowledge about them.
