Course Description:
This course is developed to familiarize future managers with macroeconomic environment and
related decision-making processes pertaining to business in the context of India and other
economies of the world. It seeks to explain the concepts of macroeconomics and their relevance
in comprehension of continually evolving business environment. Adequate emphasis shall be
given towards analysis of Indian economic and business environment both from national and
global perspective.
Objectives/ Learning Outcomes:
The objective of this course is to make students aware of certain macroeconomic and business
concepts and its interpretation in policy context. Through this course, effort will be made to enable
students with decent analytical insights about prevailing economic environment in its totality and
its likely impact on the business environment both at national and international level.
Pedagogy:
The course will be taught mainly through lecture method. However, the approach will also include
case studies and presentations. The participants are expected to come to the class after going
through the pre-reads. Participants may be cold-called for an overview of the reading materials for
the session either at the beginning or at the end of the session.
Evaluation Criteria
Students will be evaluated all through the term. Distribution of weights to different component
will be as follows:
Mid Term Exam : 35%
End Term Exam : 35%
Quiz/Assignment : 20%
In-class activity (Instructor specific) : 10%

The following points are in regard to evaluation standard to be noted:

  1. Plagiarism Note for all Assignments: All work you submit for this course must be original. If you do borrow from another source for any purpose, please follow APA guidelines. If you are not sure what plagiarism means, consult your Student Manual or your faculty. Any offence found on account of plagiarism or fabrication will be subject to a failing grade (F).
  2. For Quizzes, Mid Term and End Term Exams: You are requested to strictly adhere to the Examination Protocols & Discipline specified in the Student Manual along with SOP of IT department. Any violation will attract Zero Mark for the subject component.
  3. Students missing out quiz or any other in-class evaluations on any day will be awarded Zero without further considerations. No supplementary quiz shall be conducted. Text Book: Mankiw, N.
