Answer:

Planning and Management

Planning and management is one of the most crucial and necessary step in almost every aspect of life in order to smoothly run the processes. Without proper planning any process can end in disaster. Therefore before starting any process or project, one should plan each step of the process thoroughly. Similarly planning and management of broadcast media also requires detailed step by step flow of process in order to translate the process into a success. The very first step of broadcast media is planning, after which comes the organizing step, next step is coordinating, whereas the last step is evaluating. One of the most crucial step in planning and management of broadcast media is to identify the bottlenecks which may cause delay and hiccups in the process, so in order to run the whole process smoothly one has to make sure there are no bottlenecks.

Difference between Educational radio and Production for Educational

Television

One of the main difference between radio broadcast and television broadcast is that television broadcast covers wider range as compare to radio. People are keener to educate themselves by watching shows on television as it is comparatively more exciting and entertaining for people to watch than to listen on radio broadcast. However one of the most prominent difference is that the radio broadcast is cheaper as compare to the television broadcast as it costs less money to produce content on radio. People are interested in different genres and content in radio broadcast and television broadcast are planned and made accordingly to keep the interest of their targeted audience and keep them educated with the latest knowledge. However the execution on both the radio and television is entirely different from one another as in radio broadcast you can only listen but cannot watch whereas in television broadcast, a person can listen and watch at the same time. Before every show, the management team has to make sure every step is thoroughly planned and is executed properly, as a small mistake can cause a lot of damage to the media house.

Radio and Television broadcast Contribution to Society

The radio and educational television broadcast are now contributing immensely in every field of education. There are different programs which covers different topics for example finance, journalism, marketing, banking, social sciences, history, geography etc. These kinds of shows

and programs can really help people in increasing their knowledge and exposing them to the advanced study that could be very beneficial for them. The shows that are on air through the radio and television media are now broadcasted in different languages and dialects in order to cover more mass areas and educate as many people as they can. As there are many people who do not understand English or Urdu, such shows are then dubbed and translated in local languages e.g. in Pashto, Saraiki, Punjabi etc. The broadcast through the radio and television has now open new ways of learning. A person can just sit at home and watch educational videos or listen to podcast and can safe time and cost at the same time Example For example Channels like Geographic Channel, Discovery Channel, NAT GEO, Animal Planet helps contribute to the society by giving out free education and documentaries for people to gain knowledge about what been happening in the entire world. There are channels that constantly update you on the current affairs and what’s happening in the entire world. Now knowledge can be gained by just clicking a few buttons on our remote or media player. But this requires detailed pre planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation in order to make sure that the processes are running smoothly and a well-organized plan is executed at the end.

Steps in Planning and Management

By following the above mentioned steps, the educational radio and television broadcast can successfully execute the educational programs which will contribute in increasing the knowledge of people around the globe.

The evaluation which contains both formative and summative evaluation is considered as good evaluation. Formative evaluation is informal whereas summative evaluation is more formal and structured so they can be measured and compared. The main difference between summative and formative evaluation are given below:

Formative Evaluation Summative Evaluation

It is a process. It is not a process. Formal Informal Flexible and ongoing Fixed Focuses on individual performance Focuses on main goal Developmental evaluation Terminal evaluation Give feedback Produces end result

Formative Evaluation in Implementing Broadcast Media Programme

Every broadcast media programme aims is to change human behaviour. It is designed to produce specific changes in behaviour of the individuals. Evaluation of broadcast media is essential for providing sufficient data and feedback in order to bring more improvement in the quality of programmes ensuring better utilization. The main objective of evaluations are:  Monitor equipment performance  Adjustment of production techniques  Providing more appropriate instructions  Proper program planning  Setting priorities the planning to meet the objectives  Planning for expansion In formative evaluation during the implementation of programme, data are collected for making revisions in order to improve its functioning and effectiveness. Formative evaluation is necessary to identify the problem and indicate the corrective steps under the conditions given. The result of formative studies are useful in designing other programmes of similar nature and planning media policy. When a programme is of repeated nature and formative evaluation has not been possible at the initial stage, summative evaluation is more suitable to be conducted for bringing about necessary revision in the programme. However, it is wise as well as economical to apply formative evaluation and improve the programme in the process of its production on the basis of its findings.

While performing formative evaluation during programme implementation it gives good results. All the error and mistakes are corrected as it identified which saves time as well. There is no need to do last time changing. If initial stage is error free then it is expected that all other stages are also error free which leads to a good and effective programme. Summative evaluation is different from in perspective of time. Both evaluations are overlap I many ways. Summative evaluation is mainly concerned with assessment of finish product. The method of study in formative evaluation are also followed in summative evaluation. The need for immediate information to guide short range decision justifies formatting evaluation. Whereas the needs of long range decisions and for policy making require summative evaluation of the impact of program. Due to its long term affects data in summative evaluation are gathered in a more systematic and scientific manner.
