1. DESCRIBE YOUR NATIVE LANGUAGE.
- My native language is an a regional “Austronesian" language spoken in
the northern part of Luzon and is sometimes referred to as Ilokano, Iloco or
Iluko. It is a third most-spoken language in the Philippines and has slight
mutual intelligibility with the Balangao language and the eastern dialects of
the Bontoc language. The Ilokano people had their indigenous writing
system and script known as kur-itan. There have been proposals to revive
the kur-itan script by teaching it in Ilokano-majority public and private
schools in Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur.
2. HOW DID YOU ACQUIRE YOUR FIRST LANGUAGE?
- I acquire my language through interaction to the other people and through
the teaching of my parents.
3. HOW DID YOU ACQUIRE YOUR SECOND LANGUAGE?
- I acquire my second language through watching movies, tv series,
reading a books, and learning in my school.
4. WHAT MAKES YOUR LANGUAGE UNIQUE?
- In Ilokano, there are no linking verbs. The noun or adjective which is used
to describe the subject is itself a predicate. Subjects which are common like
nagan and apelyido are usually introduced by Ti.
ex. Maria ti naganko (My name is Maria)
5. IN WHAT WAY YOU WILL LEARN NEW WORDS?
- If I want to learn a new words I will watch a short video in any social
media platform and I will search it in google and study the meaning of the
words. Sometimes when I read the books or any article and I see the
unfamiliar words I will search in google immediately. If I have a time, I also
read dictionary.
