how to use tutor feedback, take additional lessons, acquire new skills, and overcome challenges. I also learnt how to use advantages like work experience and a year abroad. Furthermore, this unit has assisted me in developing many job skills that I may require in the future.

3. What have I learnt about myself? Use career development theories to help you.

Reflecting on your strengths and weaknesses is very important for personal development because it allows you to identify areas for improvement, increase your confidence in your abilities, learn and be the best version of yourself (Hiemstra, Van Yperen and Timmerman, 2019). During these years I had many opportunities to do so. Everybody learns in their way. Reading a lot about career development helped me become aware of many aspects of me. I started to analyse strengths and weaknesses to be able to draw significantly on my professional experience as well as the outcomes of any courses I take. Another important thing I have learned was the value of having personal objectives and creating goals. This helped me to establish fresh, quantifiable, and well-defined goals for myself. I learn that there are also several methods to a successful education, experiment, explore, be inventive, and find out what works best for me (Cottrell, 2013, p.6). I learned how to cultivate my intellectual curiosity and remain open to new ideas, how to be highly motivated and determined to achieve, and how to be resilient, persistent, and perseverant. I also learned that self-awareness, dedication, determination, perseverance, self-motivation, and positive thinking are part of personal traits, developed through fine-tuning a skill, such as a study ability (Cottrell, 2013, p.10).

4. My intended career goals – where has the inspiration come from?

Criminology is an interdisciplinary framework with a primary focus on crime and justice (O'Brien and Yar, 2008). Likewise, this discipline offers many job opportunities like criminologist, police, detective, probation officer, scene of crime officer, prison officer, social worker and many others (AGCAS, 2022). Looking for what I am more prone to and considering my experiences and sentiments, I am more attracted to work as a social worker because I enjoy assisting others, particularly those who are vulnerable. I like making a genuine difference in people's lives by assisting them when they are most in need. And I get my inspiration from observing people's lives and dealing with their problems. Although I've worked with vulnerable people since I was young, I have had the opportunity to observe over the years. However, the criminology course has prepared me for a

variety of careers, including child protection officers and others (Criminologist. Explore careers. National Careers Service, 2022)

5. What I need to do to achieve the – experience, skills, attributes, qualifications

etc.

Many companies will favour my talents above my degree topic, and my preferences, personality, and values will encourage them to recognise my characteristics. That is not to say that my degree is not valuable. However, in order to advance my career and gain experience, skills, qualities, credentials, and other vital things, I must do well in all fields. I may do a variety of activities to focus on my strengths, such as applying for an advertised opening, volunteering, or gaining work experience. This will enable me to get additional experience, skills, and the traits and certifications I need to finish my degree. I have a lot of transferable skills from my previous experiences. I worked with children old people and families with difficulty since I was 16 years old volunteering.

6. My own current skill set and how I would evidence these

My creative thinking and high attention to detail are my strongest assets, allowing me to generate original and accurate work that is focused on the objectives set for my job responsibilities. Another skill that I am most confident in it is integrity and empathy. I have noted these skills in different moments of my life, working with people of different ages. I am also a very motivated and hardworking person. Another skill that I develop is active listening. Working and being a lot among people of different ages I had the opportunity to develop the ability to listen and give advice and help as much as I could. I also like to think that I have a lot of things to learn from others and the more I give from myself, the more I learn from those around me.

7. How this work and process evidence my completion of stage 1 of the Career

Development Award.

I started doing something about the competition of stage 1 of the Career Development Award, but I didn’t manage to complete all the information needed. This will be part of my PDP. By completing the Bronze level, I will be able to pass to the next two levels, Silver and Gold. This will help me to achieve a certificate and a digital badge to use on my LinkedIn profile and to

spiking and writing communicate effectively

9. Conclusion

In this essay, I have concluded by evaluating my existing strengths and weaknesses as well as how I will overcome them by building a SMART action plan. To reflect on me, I used Career Development Theory, which helped me express what I had learned about myself. This allowed me to consider what I want to accomplish with my criminology studies in the future, as well as what I need to do to earn experience, skills, attributions, certifications, and so on. I also presented my PDP in which I outlined my aims for achieving my goal using the SMART model. All of these things, especially PDP in my career, assisted me in strengthening the development of personal and professional abilities that I had lacked throughout my life. As a result, this unit has aided me in the development of a variety of employability skills that I will need in the future. Consequently, I have been able to improve in order to better prepare myself for the future on a practical level, such as preparing to find a career or setting and fulfilling goals. Self-reflection is beneficial because it makes me feel better, helps me build key beliefs, and allows me to conduct a personal study that matches my life with my job aspirations.
