Achieving the Dream

Achieving the Dream is a national initiativeto help more community college studentssucceed (earn degrees, earn certificates ortransfer to other institutions to continuetheir studies).

The initiative is particularly concernedabout student groups that have faced themost significant barriers to success,including low-income students andstudents of color.

Nationally, fewer than half ofstudents meet their goals

Nationally, of community college studentswho seek an associate degree or higher, 45percent earn an associate or bachelor’sdegree or transfer to a four-year institutionwithin six years.Nationally, of students enrolled in a certificateprogram, 41 percent achieve that goal, earna degree or transfer to a four-year institutionwithin six years.
